Pulled the trigger on a tan ORCA 40 QT cooler. (Actually harassed the girlfriend for one, she's a keeper :hillbilly: )

For those that don't know these are Roto Molded coolers like yeti, made in the U.S.A

As I went through this process i figured I'd enlighten some folks on MUD because this community is awesome.

Bed Bath and beyond is an authorized ORCA dealer, and one thing about them, is they ALWAYS have a 20% off coupon. The best part is ORCA coolers are not excluded.

So you get a quality cooler made in the states for less much less than you would a yeti, without the marketing hype.

Seems as though this has been overlooked, and for a good price point the cooler has everything the 400 YETI has, plus some, for much less.

It locks, ties down, and even has a nice cargo net on the back to keep bottle caps, bottle openers, or any other gear you can think of.

Construction is solid. Large rubber locking straps in the shape of a Whale tail keep the lid secure. There's a large drain at the bottom to clean it out, and a gasket sealed lid. See the link below for some additional pictures

Figured someone on here would like to save some money, and with grilling season approaching, now might be the time! Cheers!

Thanks for the info and review. Been looking at coolers for a while now and will add this to the list.

Saw a thread over on ExPo about the BB&B discount. Good idea.

Trying to figure out which size I want/need.

Orca goes from a 40 to a 58 and by all accounts are true to size.

Yeti has a 45 or a 50, but have smaller internal dimensions.

Decisions, decisions . . .

orca makes a great cooler, I have a 25 qt that I love

Don't be fooled by Yeti's model designations. They are not true capacities. The 40 is actually a 37, etc...

Yup, checked that out too.

I ended up purchasing an Engel 50 and am headed out this weekend.

Cooler looks like a great price point; thanks for sharing. I wonder if Yeti will go after them like they did RTIC because the design looks so similar.

Appreciate the info. It's still somewhat pricey, but good value overall. May have to look into a separate one to keep the beer out of the fridge so there is more room for food!
