Hi all

I bought some optimas when I had my tyre cleaned out on Sat. I tried to fit one in the stock location and it is too tall.

Is there a thread / mod out there that will allow me to fit the optima in the stock position?

It needs to drop by about an inch.

Did you buy the group 35 battery? I know I have a Group 35 Diehard Platinum which is taller than the Optima Group 35 and it sits on the stock tray.

Sounds like you bought the wrong size. Time for some custom work.

They suck s*** anyways, sell it and get a better battery. If you ever drain it down it will never recover.

We had this discussion about AGM batteries... the way they dont suck s*** is if they are maintained with a proper charger/conditioner once a month. Does the optima suck more fecal matter than any other AGM battery? I doubt it.

Sorry I've been out of town and was not able to respond to your post. Rod Red ever left your CB on and accidently drained your battery? Ever had the valet at your wife's work leave the keys in the ignition with the it turned half way? Ever had the guys at your work wash your car and leave the door open? Ever played your stereo to long and run your battery down? The fact is s*** happens. These battery will not recover if you ever run them down. I've had two of them die on me and was never even able to get them to hold a charge again. I tried everything to recharge them again. The guys at my local O'Reilly's Auto Parts spent a week trying to get them to come back and they have the best battery recharge equipment out there, specific made to recharge Optima's. Any battery works great if it's properly charged? If you want to be marooned somewhere they get this battery. Optima say these batteries are made to survive the rigors of extreme duty, not hardly what a joke.

My 4 month old Red top died with no warning in the middle of Death Valley. Worked perfectly the whole weekend, then all of sudden it was completely flat. Nothing was even left on to drain it, it just died. I had turned off the truck to go check out the view, came back, and NOTHING. No juice what so ever. Newps is right, the "extreme" duty slogan for these batteries are a joke. Never buying optima again.

Sucks to hear about your ordeal, that is why I responded to RobRed. Pretty much worst case scenario to have one of their batteries fail on you.

Maybe you just didn't keep it properly charged?

I don't have a dog in this fight, but wouldn't the properties of AGM batteries be consistent? Or do they not require additional maintenance consideration based on brand? Ie what makes an odyssey AGM better than an optima AGM?

Never said anything about an odyssey battery. I've only owned Optima's or stock batteries. I've drained a stock one, recharged and it's been good to go (still running fine), can't say that about the two Optima's I've owned.
