I would buy it just to take that winch off the front.☺

Shows where the market has gone in seven years since I bought my 70 FJ40 from the original owner. It was $10,000. Quite a bit of work to add ambulance door to a early FJ40. When done right they should be flush with tub. These appear to stick out. Gauges might work but dash has been cut for aftermarket gauges. Been lucky the cruiser I've bought with aftermarket gauges had a bracket mounted to the bottom of the dash except my 73. Easier to fill small screws hole in the bottom then holes cut in the dash. Correct way is to replace the cluster if you want aftermarket gauges.

The Bezel is upside down - that could be a deal breaker

Id hold out for a 76 or newer with the bigger 2F engine, 4 speed trans, and disc brakes in front. If you go look at it, ask if you can drive it around for 10 miles or so. See if that's something you would want to drive on a longer trip. just my .02

My dream vehicle is a od 79 with ambulance doors.. but I haven’t found one I could get yet. They all seem to be getting more expensive for even projects. Thank you for your .02, I’ll try that.

77 model will have the rear vent windows which are nice in the desert without A/C. Possible to add almost any option to any FJ40. Some easier than others. My 68 has had vent windows for over thirty years. My 70 never will have them.

Probably just to pull the boat onto the roof. That winch isn't pulling that 40 anywhere.

Agreed. Unless you MUST own this rig. IMO, Quite possibly the worst transmission EVER if you want to drive it on the street. Wonky vacuum shift 4x4. Small spline birfields and drum brakes with 2 non-self-adjusting wheel cylinders on each corner. That's EIGHT of them. No power steering. Speaking from experience, converting my 71 from drums to 4-wheel discs, power steering, 2F in place of the F, 4-speed trans, bigger radiator, etc etc you'll spend WAY less holding out for a decent 76 or newer.
