So I went and had a look at the winch. When the guy hooked it up to a battery it would'nt wind in... just out. I figured it would be a solenoid in the bank that had quit so I offered him $200 for the winch. He thought that was fair and off I went with a smile on my face and a winch.

Got it home and put the multi tester on it and found the solenoids were working fine and the motor was fuc*ed. Crap. No more smile on my face.

Took the winch motor to Bob's electrical motor repair and got them to look at it. They said it would only be $80 to repair the motor!! Sweet!! thank god. Smiling again

Ill get the motor tomorrow and re install it on the winch. Then move it to the shelf to collect dust untill the bumper gets fab'd.

What are the specs on that motor. Price sounds too good to be true for 10,000 lb motor replacement

$80 was to repair the existing motor.


Replacement motor was $370us + shipping.

when you put it back together take the time to clean all connections including busbars on solinoids.also clean the 4 prong connection from remote to winch that could be the sole reason the winch wouldnt wind in.
