Hey all,

I've heard the OEM clutch set is one of the best to use for a 60. Has anyone used different ones and have an opinion of its respective performance in one way or another? How about steering stabilizers? What about shocks? Please share any input you may have, thanks in advance

I'll assume you have a stock engine and tranny...in which case the OEM clutch is absolutely the way to go. Don't even think about another option.

On the suspension, again I'll assume you are stock...in which case the OEM shocks are an awesome value. Bilsteins are another option though 2-3X the price. Never used them, so can't speak to the performance. OEM price though is pretty attractive.

On the steering stabilizer - OME (Old Man Emu) is really good. Prolly an improvement over OEM.

My 2 cents - worth every penny!

OEM is the only way to go for clutch. Stock suspension, OEM is the only way to go on shocks. See a recurring theme here?

I'm not sure if we have aftermarket performance clutch options .. but I need to say, Toyota clutch kit .. are very very good .. bullet proof

Thanks so far, guys...Yes, I am all stock right now. Has anyone an opinion or used KYBs on FJ60s? I've seen them available and at a pretty good price. TIA

I had KYBs on my 83 FJ60 for a long time. I found them to be rather harsh. These were designed for off-road racing and hence were very stiff. Then I upgraded to an Ironman Suspension including shocks and this made a huge improvement in the ride.
But, no, I was not very impressed with the KYB gas shocks for general 4-wheeling.

HTH

I’ve heard KYBs tend to wear out quickly, if you need shocks maybe it is time to pony up for the suspension system you really want.
