How accurate was the template, right on or somewhat?

Well, I'm pretty much betting the farm that it's accurate 100%. I lined up the big hole before I made the cut the best that I could- it lined up well.

please take lots of pics illustrating how you deal with the antenna.... it is the sole reason i dont have mine installed yet.

I actually came up with my antenna plan last night. It's going to add a few days to the install process though. I'm going to JB weld part of the metal I cut out behind the stock antenna opening, then add metal fill over the top, effectively 'shaving' (to use a body shop term) the stock antenna hole. Obviously paint over the filler... None of this will be very visible once the snork is in... Then I'm going to buy that CB/ radio splitter from walcott CB and tie my truck radio into my CB antenna. I always have my CB antenna in anyway.

Simple enough solution, but effective. I did dabble with the idea of moving the antenna back toward the passenger door about 6 inches and making a new hole... but I think the shave/ consolidate idea will be easier and cleaner.

Now I can see the pictures (crazy photobucket)!!!

Waiting to see the finished product!

 Riley

This is great and I have heard of this approach. I am such a  guy. Can you please post part numbers and pics? I am thinking that is the solution. Headed into the attic this weekend to find the snorkle parts and the template!

are you going to use silicone on any of the areas where the plastic from the snorkle joins? to make it watertight?

I may silicone the snork neck to the tube that runs to the fender- but that would be it. Everything else is clamped on.

I drilled the remaining holes for the snork per the template and everything fits great. Follow the template and you'll be golden.

Here's the splitter part:

Buttoned it up a few minutes ago.

I'll do a step by step the best I can, I'm not great at these tutorial things. I'll begin by assuming you've already got your fender cut and drilled according to the template. Make sure your cuts are painted, or treated in your choice of rust preventative.

Step one: Get your poop in a group.

Step two: attach feeder tube to elbow. I wrapped the junction in a couple wraps of green plastic tape. Why green? I had it laying nearby. That joint will not be water tight if you do not wrap it.

Step Three: Put your fender on. Pull the end of the feeder tube through your fender cut to make it seat/ seal better. You'll attach your six fender bolts (10mm) at this time, as well as your door jamb nuts, and cowl.... I also put on the snork body bracketry. (black pieces near cowl).

Step Four: Attach snork body

Step Five: Test fit the snork head bracket and mark for drilling. Drill and install snork head bracket.

Step Six: Attach snork head unit. Prepare for weird looks.

Looks nice. I feel like its a little crooked, but it could just be the way they are. Either way, its OEM! So is Operation Aeration complete?

Looks nice. I feel like its a little crooked...

X 2

I'm sure the head can be turned a little to get it (looking) straight!

Was there anything missing from the list or you were able to utilize all of the parts in the kit?

Anyway, thanks for the write-up and hope the snoekel comes in handy for you and allow you to be mobile in floods! ;)

And finally, thanks so much for your decision to get the snorkel from me, Doc. I really apprecaite it!

Mot :)

Yeah, I noticed the turned head too. The snorkel neck has slots for the head to fit in, they must be a bit off? Anyway- I'm going to go back and turn it a bit.

Mot- There are parts included in the 'kit' that you just plain don't need. The 4 plastic push clips are pointless- I replaced them with stainless hardware. Also, there was a redundant band-clamp thing (but I think you mentioned that before). I'm not at all un-happy with the kit, however.

Doc,

Yeah, I had told you about the redunduncy of the band-clamp and also stated that I had no idea what the push clips were for... That's good we can confirm those things!

I guess if anyone wants to make a note of that on the group-buy thread they could. ;)

Thanks again!

Okay, at least it's straight now.

the town of Ft. Dodge is gonna wonder what the "heck" THAT is....

Already had one truck full of folks nearly drive into a telephone pole checkin' it out.

I think I'm going to tell them it's my supercharger.

PS- check out the shave job on the antenna hole. You can't even tell where it was anymore.

lookin good DOC; I bet you get great reception w/ you doppler antannae!!

Looks good.

I'm not 100% sold on the 'good looks' part. I like it, I like that it's OEM, but that air canister is just- bulbous.

With my mother-in-law in residence for the next two months, I may NEED the UN peacekeepers!

I like it !

Great work!
