We will be meeting at 0900 across from the Outpost at the UORTC.

Ok, among all the directing i did yesterday i talked to Terry about if we were still going forward with this, and Yes it is still a go.

What it consists of is the John Deere would like to help Uwharrie OHV trails. What that consist of at this time is the parking lot / camping spot at the beginning of our trail. They are going to put in better posts / fencing / garbage containers, and overall just clean that spot up making it look much better and be better protected against people driving their trucks back up in there for camping and tearing things up.

From talking to Terry yesterday it will be done before opening weekend at the end of March. I am going to try and make a face to face meeting with them and tell them that ONSC will help as much as we can with people that can make it out there to help them. I would really like to see some of us out there helping.

Do we have people willing to help them / me to get our trail to be better ?

THIS WILL BE GETTING DONE THE WEEKEND OF MARCH 16 - 17TH. IT WILL BE BOTH DAYS SO IF YOU CAN NOT MAKE IT TO ONE THEN PLEASE MAKE IT TO THE OTHER DAY EVEN IF FOR ONLY A SHORT TIME TO SHOW WE SUPPORT OUR TRAILS.

I think with the Meet and Greet being the first weekend in March, making this our "other" monthly trip. We can get group camp for those that want to make a weekend of it.

I'm always down to help out with anything you need darin!

I'm down. I love working! Who knows, moonshine may well be ready to hit the trails by then.

Does the FS have a layout proposed for the design of this improved area? This could be a opportunity to design an area that is functional in the camping/driving sense, along one with a Tread Lightly and environmental (run-off and impact) sense. Could be an area to show a more forward thinking approach...

I'm not sure where the main point of entry for vehicles is, but Wolf's Den may be one of the more used for people not familiar with off roading. So, an information sign on proper riding etiquette sponsored by ONSC, may be benefical. I'm not sure what information is already listed on the map flyers or the signs already in place.

hokid on pahonicks
didnt work for meaty :D

Second trip in march sounds like a good idea and It seems if we concentrate more efforts in a smaller space we could really make a noticeable and appreciable difference. Not that past work hasnt, but condensed into one area, I think we could make a big visual impact. Im game.

I am unsure at this time of the whole design of what they are trying to do, but with our input I think we could do alot to get it going in the correct direction.

I am more than game to take a drawing / proposal to the USFS with what we would like to see get done at the beggining of OUR trail. That is the best thing of it, IT is our trail to work with / on. As long as we are not proposing tearing down tree's / going into Arch sites i bet we would be golden.

This is our time to shine / make a difference for the next generation.

So, lets hear / see the ideas / proposals.

I have Terry's number so making things happen is really easy for me. That and for some reason everyone up there likes me. Foolish people.

If i'm able to help on the proposed day I will be there.

Ok guys and gals.

If you have ideas of what you would like to see done at the beginning of our trail then please post up here. It has to be within reason keep in mind please. I have a meeting up there tonight with FOE and Debra will be there and i am going to try after the meeting to talk to her about this going forward for us. I can do alot of things but please i need your help on this. :hillbilly: :hillbilly: :hillbilly:

So, please think about this for the next few days and come back with some ideas i can throw on their desk. Remember this trail will only be as good as we make it. We make it better and people will see that and remember us for time to come.

I don't think using toilets for picnic tables is a good idea, at all.

 Gross.

Toilet like at the RML parking lot ( where we had the stew at the last work day ). In addition to a toilet, it'd be cool to have a little canopy, or at least a little cement pad, where we can put some picnic tables.

A no-brainer is to get rid of the cess pool that collects at the head, improve the drainage. I can't remember what's on either side of it (close to a stream?), so we might be limited...

I'm kinda partial to the cess pool. It's about the only water we can drive through in the whole park now.

Latest and greatest news as of last night.

This work will be done on 16-17 March. It is the workday weekend for March.

The plans right now are the following.

1) Put up a new Kiosk.
2) More garbage cans.
3) and last but not least putting up the thick wooden guardrail up where the split rail is right now.

So, we need people to show up for this . We will have some other things to do in my mind also right there and that is to clean up the s***ty put together firepits and just an overall cleaning up of that part of the trail.

And we can do anything else we need to do on our trail. This is where i would like to see our club go from now on, on workdays. Our own trail. I love helping any trail, but if ours needs the work then lets focus on ours.

What say ye ?

I'd day yes on that one.

I have not liked all the we failed on our trail talk lately especially since it is the FS that chooses what trail we work on.

Ive spent countless hours hauling tons of rock, guard rail and chopping up felled trees on RML but haven't seen a big work day on our trail in about 2 years or more. I'm fine working on other trails to help out but if our trail needs any work that is where we should head first.

I'd love it if we could just go up there and work on ours.

I'd love it more if we kicked the Quads and dirt bikes off our trail

For everyone out there.

We can work on our trail whenever we need / want to. I am more than game to work on ours any day of the week / month. All i have to do is tell Terry to open our gate and it shall be done for us.

That is the USFS and my goal here.

Which is to work on our trail and maintain our own trail with the help of the USFS. The end goal with the USFS is for all clubs to step up to the plate and own their trails and the workdays will go away and we will do our own workdays when we want / need to.

And we did not have to have Wolf Den. We can put our name in for any trail up there to co sponsor. I just redid it for Wolf Den but next year you / we can pick another trail.
