Huge thanks to everyone. Phulcrum showed up Sunday and we got a lot done including getting the good engine installed. I will continue on the little stuff but am hoping to get another wrench day to tackle swapping the axles and springs over. Anyone up for Sunday the 28th?
Friends, so for those who don't know, I have this big, brown, slow FJ60 we love and call Mudhorn. It has Alcan springs, regeared, ARB'd, H55f'd, and a nice 2F under the hood. The body and frame, however, are rusty (strangely the roof is perfect). The body's rocker panels were hacked up by the PO. As a result I realized that there just wasn't much use in trying to repair / resurrect the body. I was hoping to find a clean 60 with a bad engine but good everything else and I finally did! Now to swap parts... This is where I could use some help if anyone has the time to spare.
We will actually be doing the work at my folks place in Vista. The main goal is to get Mudhorn's engine, trans, drivetrain into the new truck. We don't need to install the donor powertrain back into Mudhorn but will need to put the donor axles and springs in so it can be rolled around. I will get a head start on the small stuff to try to make this go as quickly as possible. In a perfect scenario we'd have folks on the front suspension, rear, and engine assembly, and knock it all out in one day. If we can at least get the powertrains done that would be a huge help.
Food, drink, and beer will be provided.
