Yes, I do like my co....

DeepSouth, sounds like structure is handled....don't forget those extras....

Contents to be paid in full? Looks like you've wrapped that up as well....

Raise ever-loving hell with the ALE girl.....getting paid for living in your own house is a stretch, I assume the $300 is what you could be renting it for? If so, they owe you a damn check. Price out a rental with a one year contract fully furnished on a year lease and tell her I need some funds, or put me up.....

Sounds like you have them handled.

Other than trying AGAIN for landscaping as a seperate item I believe I have tapped out all the structure money EXCEPT the $30,000 total loss money  I believe I will have to produce receipts beyond $150k and get re-imbursed for the total loss money, which sucks but I plan on getting every penny.

I have faith in the contents agent but got impatient after waiting 6 weeks and finding out her errors had slowed or stopped the process AFTER she said the check was on it's way.

The housing agent is the second one I have had, the first agent paid 3 months in advance and the new housing agent is the one telling me we have to get a contract or they wont pay. Yes this was a rental that a buddy of mine lived in, he was injured and is living with his parents currently. They didn't want to pay it at first because I wasn't charging him rent after his accident. I explained that I could STILL be charging him but didn't feel it was right since the guy dayum near killed himself on a motorcycle and was facing bankruptcy

Sounds like you have quite a bit upfront, you know now how dreadfully slow they are, so you'll have to keep an eye on the rebuild just so contractor's won't be pissed and your scheduling gets out of whack......(If you need to tap into that extra $$)

You going to GC it yourself? IS that why you haven't hired a contractor? Sorry about being nosey, just wondering...

You must really like your property to stay there.....you could be in a $2000 (sorry if that isn't accurate for your area and normal standards) house with $1500 a month furniture....remember some of these people, and or their procedures, have little to do with common sense.....or experience.

The last large claim I worked as a total loss adjuster for a co that only insures $1 million +......valued policy state (means they have to write a check on the spot).....I flew in, had an engineer assess the integrity of the foundation, the original builder agree to a price, a contents specialists working on that figure, and found them and furnished a house, pretty much within 24 hours except for a few details, and flew home.....

My check writing auth was only $100K......I did that first day.....management wanted to have conference call after conference call, and have me fill out multiple reports......which I did, but all they did was delay the damn thing......my job, arriving at an agreeable figure was done.....fine art being restored, some recreated.....contractor working, guns being cleaned, etc.......management still could wrap their minds around paying for it and the cost effectiveness of moving on....

Kind of made we want to get out of that side.....too many managers who had never actually worked a claim, no one willing to give me the authority to write 3 checks and be done.......Hopefully I'll never go back, that was the first and last time in 10 years of doing that job I was not proud of the quality and timeliness of the service I'd been able to give......

And yes, I have no power to override policy conditions, but I can light a fire and get some things moving......

Wow, that really sucks. I have allstate and my agent keeps telling me that I have enough coverage, I alwayis trust him to tell me the truth.

Please understand that most, if not all, people that sells insurance or real estate are SALES people and NOT an agent. Agent, by definition, has a fuduciary duty to the principal (you), but the sales commisons, there is a conflict of interest.
