Hey all,

This is my second time installing OME springs (on a
buddy's truck), this time the springs were labeled RH
and LH (instead of PS/DS), per christo's web site it
says to install the RH spring on the right side and LH
spring on the Left side. BUT...and this is a big
one...

The OME box had a sticker on it that said to install
the LH and RH (as above) ONLY on RH drive vehicles.
And to flip the order on LH drive vehicles. I know I
can match the springs up when installing them, but
it's too late for that (already installed them and didn't notice the box sticker the first time). I'm wondering...what's the correct way??? Man, does this
have to be so confusing?

Thanks!

Kumar

Got an answer from 80scool list. Thought I would share it.

basically, ignore the box label. go with LH and RH. I have taken a pic and added some notes here for future reference:

how come the springs are different lengths?

there is more weight on the drives side

I will second that one,
although I learned to switch them back in less than two hours.

Just remember to put the longer ones on the LH side of the vehicle, as in USDS or UKPS.

Just get a really fat girlfriend to ride around with you everywhere you go...that should even it out. :D

Would that be LH as in standing at the front of the vehicle and looking back or as in standing at the back of the vehicle and looking forward, or sitting in the passenger seat or in laying on the roof?

I'm so confused. ;)

Can we switch to port and starboard?

Only if you stand in a puddle!

Phil,
I live in New Mexico. What is a puddle?

A puddle? That's when you piddle on yourself!

Well I know that you don't have lakes, streams or rivers.

The longer spring always goes on the longer side of axle.

Sorry to spoil the fun, but this has nothing to with how fat your girlfriend is, what side of the road you drive on, or which direction water swirls down your drain.

The spring seat on the short side of the axle is higher because the axle tube doesn't have a chance to taper down as far from the diff housing. Why Toyota didn't just make the seat higher on the long side so they could use the same spring on both sides is the mystery.

I think I've seen a puddle once. My lawn sprinkler system sprang a leak and there was a small pool of water on the drive the next morning; about 12" in diameter and .25" deep.

I'll bet that's what you're referring to as a puddle? :D

Is that right? It's as simple as looking under there...I've spent many hours under my rig, never noticed any difference in spring pads..hmm..I'll have to check that out. Good call! Although I like the fat girlfriend riding shotgun idea also...and if way off, 2 or 3 of them all on that side of the vehicle. :D
