i just got my little brothers cruiser squared away after replacing the rear main engine seal and replacing the clutch and now have a bit of time to focus on mine. i'm always interested in better performance and was just reading up on the SOA with stock springs. i installed OME three months ago and would like to know if anybody has sprung over using OME lifted springs. is it possible? how much lift is does it give? just curious if it is something i should be interested in.

I'm using OME springs on my 84FJ60 w/SOA.
The springs have lost some arch from wheelin' and they are quite a bit softer with additional equipment/tank weight.
I would guess I had about 7"-8" of lift originally.
I know the current overhead clearance height is at 80" w/36" swampers.

do you have any pics and did you do the soa yourself? any advice?

I ran SOA with heavy-duty OME's for three years. Excellent ride, very stable, but scary on off-camber trails and also too impractical for a daily driver. I was hoping that the weight and the flex would flatten the springs, but they held pretty well. I ended up de-arching them a year ago, and the result was awesome. I got an even better ride, and the truck is easier to get into, easier to work on the engine bay.

Height of mine a year ago was 79" with 35" tires, probably a wee bit less now.

The ride is great both on and off road.
It was my daily driver for a couple years.I only drive 11 miles to work and back and no daily freeway driving.Camping road trips with canoe(s) on roof with no probolems ,just drive carefully!
I did the SOA my self and I did not cut and turn the front axle.

SO w/ OME - no problem.
How high - I recall about 28 inches under the frame but it's settled a few inches since then.

My only complaint is mine have settled too much. Of course loading it heavy and wheeling the snot out of it does take it's toll.

I have Rancho 9012 shocks and a front sway bar w/ disconnect. It drives great on the highway and around town.

SOA work done by MUDRAK .

Plenty of pics on my website. ;)

(try searching this forum for more info, the topic has come up a few times)
