Old warn winch

As anyone converted the old warn winch with the hand break to a newer style stand up winch in which there is no hand break only a ratchet style stop?

I have looked into those older winches a lot, never seen anyone do that. Have seen them convert it to a motorcycle break, put a rotor on the winch and a brake caliper. Looks real bad @ss

hah, those cable clamps in the 1st pick look really sketchy. the cable tends to snap right there.... trust me.

Looks like a lot of effort for that winch. Easy enough to find a used 8274. I have a couple of these sitting in the shop. Gonna mount one on the trailer for loading rigs, just because I have it. Don't think I would bother putting much effort into upgrading one for use on a rig.
