So I am looking at my options for a lift and pretty much decided on the OME 3.5 with heavys in front and mediums in the rear.

It doesn't look like you save any money by buying the kit, over the individual pieces.

So, if I wanted to slowly to the projects.....what would you start with??

Springs.....then steering damper...then shocks??

As goofy as it sounds, if I order it all at once I will instantly install and be ready for the next mod. I want to try to space it out.

So, in what order to perform the install?? Will it be any more work?! Say....adding shocks after springs or vice versa??

Thanks...I got the hankering to buy something, but just bought short bus and winch a few weeks back, I need to slow down....

You pretty much can do shocks and springs both at the same time. Steering damper takes longer and if you don't have a tie rod puller it will take more time/effort to replace.

At the same time...or at completely different times??

As mentioned I DONT want to it all at once. Would much prefer a slow build up.....springs this month, shocks next month....etc....

buy parts as you can afford over time and when you have a complete lift kit collected- and then do the install...

Aside from springs and shocks, what other parts are needed to do the 3.5 lift?

I just did this. Removing the shocks is half the job of installing the springs. If you do one you might as well do the other.

Sure, you can do springs first but you must remove the shocks to do it. Sure you could shocks first but once you do springs you have to remove the shocks again.

Well that's no fun...I guess I will just buy the kit and throw it in.

I was hoping for a week of just upgraded springs...then add shocks (see how much ride
Improves) etc....

Sounds like I will just order the kit next week and throw it in. ;)

nevermind

Ahhh, OK this is what I was looking for thanks.

Not worth it to me if I have to double up on my works, thanks!

Dude seriously, what is there to double up? Get a hydraulic jack that can lift the truck high enough and add jacks. Do one wheel at a time. The thing that will take you the longest time is probably taking off the tire.

I was referring to installing the shocks and springs at different times.

If when installing the shock, I need the take the spring out and when installing the spring, I need to take the shock out.....that would be doubling up.

So, as stated, I am just gonna buy the kit and install it in entirety that day.

Ah. Good call.

I did what you are thinking about doing. I bought 2.5" Ironman springs only. I installed them and drove the truck a week or so and then overextended one of my rear shocks. Bent it in half.

I ordered the Ironman Nitrogas shocks that would have been part of a kit, but they had to back order them. I just received them Friday finally and am installing today.

And yes, I had to disconnect the shocks to install the springs so I will get to do that job again today for the new shock install.

Not mich else...steering damper and bushings

Caster bushings, I assume?

No need to extend the swaybar links or go with an adjustable panhard and all the other metal bits I see on the 'kits' they sell? hehe

are the current shocks on the rig ok? if so, i'd install the springs only and add some generic shock extenders while you have the shocks disonnected. you don't have to completely remove the shocks to change out the springs, just disconnect one end. shock extenders are about $12 for a pack of two at advaced auto.

Got it....u confirmed that I will definitely install it all at once.

Current setup is worn....original suspension from 96lx and I have since added 90lbs winch and short bus up front and extra weight (hi-lift, tool box, come-along, spares fluids) in the rear.

I am just gonna install everything at once, that seems best.

I just thought I could save money by not having it installed at once and jumping to my next purchase (sliders/skid plates).

Oh well...more mods it is.
