Wayne, did you ever figure out what happened to the turbo in that truck that you dunked in a creek? Something about blowing smoke, I can't remember completely.

the turbo was fien so i found ot, the compression was excellent, ran with excellent power, smoked liek a bugger...ended up replaceing the engine with one from a mine truck (in the picture above) the other is going to get new oil rings actually, it will get new bearings and rings...

Alright... no one ansered the questions you posed..... Why do you put the feed in befor the turbo?? something to do with mixture I am guessing. and so that you aren't trying to force more gas into an already pressurized enviornment (I have no idea what PSI propane comes out at, but I'm sure peak at boost the injection would be slowed). Am I close??

think of it this way, if you have 14 psi feeding the OUTLET of the PI system and the activation point of the PI system is 8 psi the system will never turn on.
the system is boost activated, you preset the opening and the cfm of propane, when you reach the preset boost activation then the valve opens a bit, the more boost the more the valve opens and more cfm flow into the induction system.
also if you have the outlet before the turbo then the propane is atomized better and mixes with the air charge even better.

so in a nut shell, you are bang on...

In your first post you say "So I am taking bets on how long this engine lasts" is that because this extra power is going to cause significat wear, or because now that you have more power your going to use it and abuse it??

I am considering similar things on an HDJ81, but it will be a daily driver so I need to be sure I'm not causing too much harm.... I am good to my auto's for the most part, but like to have the extra power when I want it. And I like to do it cause I can!!

Thanks
James

nah, cause i hydro locked the first one... this one was an ex mine engine with unknown milage and it was being ...ummm....how can i put this..."put to the test??"...
not too many people in Cnada have done much testing on how the PZ will respond to some "tweakig". the engine has been standing up perfectly fine so far. it accelerates very nicely and pulls strong through the entire rpm range...it isn't any 7.3L but for half the size it PULLS espec since it is turning 36" tractor tires on a basicly stock drivetrain...

watch the EGTS, change the fluids regularily and the filters, watch the water temps and you are golden...

hey wayne another thing with the pre turbo propane injection, I guess it would help to cool the turbo and your egt's, maybe prolong the life of that turbo a bit.

P.s. when are you going to sell me that rear e-locker for my Prado, come on man I want to have fun in the bush too.

Hello,

If I remember correctly, Wayne/Crushers eventually transplanted that engine (complete with front clip and front frame rails) into an LJ78.

He wheeled that modified truck for a while and then sold it to a family from Alberta. So quite likely, that particular engine is still alive.
