I just replaced my stock 2017 LC200 18" wheels and tires with 285/70/17 on RW's. The tire shop said the new tire "looks a little close to the muffler" and they would be concerned about heat. The tire is only ~1" larger diameter than OEM, so 1/2" closer to the muffler. I assume there must be a lot of folks with that exact size tire in the stock location...anyone ever have heat issues? TIA

It will fit fine, no issues with up to a 34” tire in the spare location. Many hear, me included, run that size or larger in the spare location without issue or concerns.

Yes I have 285/75R17 in the spare spot which is slightly taller. It’s tight but fits. I do suggest removing the little nub on the back side of the frame near the axle, which secured a 31” tire but presses weirdly into a 33-34”. It’s just 2 bolts to remove
