Has anyone ever had there oil turn red? I have a new engine and my oil is turning red. Oil level is not rising on dip stick and power steering fluid is low a little but not that much to be able to turn 8qt's of oil that red. I have heard that the only way the oil can turn red if from the power steering pump os leaking from the front seal behind the gear drive on the pump!

Any help is greatly appreciated

That's the source.

New engine, as in just rebuilt? If so, the assembly lube that I used on a previous project is red...the builder could have been heavy handed with the assembly lube??? Have you changed the oil yet since the rebuild (if it was)?

Just a thought...how's the viscosity? I'd imagine the PS fluid will thin your oil out. The assembly lube is thick, so it would probably feel about the same viscosity if it's the culprit.

Again, all just thoughts right off the top.

Oil has been changed twice since rebuild. Sending in a sample to Blackstone for analysis.
