let see if i can get yelled at, my son as well as two very good friends are heavy diesel mechs, one (not my son) has well over 15 years with companies like empire, schwabb, red mountain machinery. all concerned say the same thing rotella while a great oil for diesels (ask any trucker) should not be used in a gas burner due to the detergents used in it to help fight the soot in an oil burner.

That's what I always thought as well. But looking at the Shell Rotella website the oil is rated for gas engines-"
API CJ-4, CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4,
API SM, SL, SJ, SH "

The additive packages in oils rated for both Compression and Spark ignition will be appropriate for that... I have read that some high-detergent diesel oils can "wash" the anti-wear away, but that's for non-spark rated oils.

A lot of people also run the GM EOS, Assembly Lube, the 4 oz, with each oil change. I have the big bottle I'm gonna use at break in, as recommended by the engine builder who builds all of MAFs Hi-Po motors.

Here's a very interesting ARTICLE on this very subject.

My BJ70 has 670,000 km and I only used synthetic oil with Tufoil addative. It has never been rebuilt and runs great. Like any machinary, how hard you push it will also determine how long it lasts, Compression was somwere around 390 last time it was checked at 570,000 km. Avg oil change every 18,000 km. My plan is to go 1,000,000 + km without an engine, trany, diff, or clutch rebuild. Only shortfall is that I may not last that long LOL. Right now I use Amsoil 15 40 mostly because of TMB # of 12. Just one other thing that helped is highway kms ~ 200 a day. Proof is in the pudding.

When you guys talk of running the Shell Rotella T Multigrade, are you using the 15W40 or the the 10W30?

I'm running 15w40 dino in the summer and 0w40 syn (not available in the States IIRC, you get 5w40) in the winter.
