I'm working through a pile of parts for my rebuild and wondering if I should get a new oil pump at $250, or do the parts kit for $80 and rebuild mine. Any experience on the rebuild, is it worth saving a few bucks or just go new?

I see Man a Fre carries a "japanese" pump for $99. Wonder if its good quality? I'm tempted to tear mine apart and see how it looks before deciding what to do though, I think I'd rather replace only the worn parts with OEM.

I think you may need to "modify" the baffles in your 71 F engine oil pan to accommodate a 78 2F oil pump. NTTAWWT.

Glad you went new. Even at $200 it's cheap insurance. Although If I recall correctly Napa had them also and were fairly inexpensive. It's been awhile though and my memory sometimes fails me.:bang:
