oil pressure light

helped a friend of mine do an engine swap on hiss 1988 toy pick up we threw in a 22re efi she runs great and has the power it should, but the oil light come on when it is idleing but when it is above 2500rpm the light goes off it seems to be getting oil took the oil filler cap off when runnig to see if it was getting oil and its flowing prety darn good. enging also has a strenge wwwerrrr nois to it almost like a power stering pump that is complety shot any thoughts on these two issuse would be mutch apreciated

Sounds like an oil pump not providing enough pressure at idle OR bad contacts on the sending unit. Is the engine from the same year?
