Hi all,

My oil pressure light seems to come on although my pressure gauge is showing normal pressure.

This used to only happen when travelling downhill but now it is doing this on the flat.

Does anyone have any ideas?

The light will be oil level not pressure I think - pressure is usually a gauge.

What truck to you have?

Regards
Mark

Lemme guess 1KZ correct mine does this too.

We believe it's the filter as when we change the filter even after 2000k's the problem goes away. Then comes back after rougly 2000k again

I still investigating as oil pressure is still good and oil level is correct.

We thought it was fake oil filters - yes here we get them in the genuine toyota boxes or poor oil. However changing the filter immediately solves the problem for a while.

It came back last weekend on a offroad trip - 4 days :( and everydownhill and there were lots - on came the light also a small rev (to say 1000-1200 revs) up made the problem go away - so do I have a oil pump problem coming also and yeah I did not have the spare filter wil me it was at home :( 400k away.

Story of the trip later it was a good one.

My truck is a 1994 Pradowith the 1KZ. My oil level is perfect but the filter is getting on a bit. Could this possibly be the sender?

hmmm not sure its the oil and filter personally.

Mine does the same thing: Seems to be fixed every time that the sender is disturbed but then comes back. It can be moisture in the sender connector. I am beginning the believe it is a over sensitive design - a guy on TLOCUK has actually extended the arm a bit so that its isn't so sensitive and he has never had a false light again. If you don't drive off road and make sure you check your oil level regularly then I would just disable it.
