I have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge in my '73 FJ40. Parked, the needle is fine and shows the correct operating pressure. When I drive, the needle vibrates and bounces around, but is still near the correct pressure. How do I get the play out of the needle?

If it's an electric gauge, you likely have either a short to ground in the wire to the sending unit or a bad sending unit. If it's a VDO gauge, you can get diagnostic instructions at the VDO site.

Its not electric. Its got a stainless hose that goes from the rear of the intake manifold (near the distributor) to the gauge. Oil comes thru the hose to the gauge.

In the event it's not bouncing 'cuz you bought a REALLY CHEAP gauge... try adding a snubber.
