I'm finally at the point of starting her up after 2 years, and I read the horror stories of no oil pressure. I have a non-USA dizzy, which if you view from the side does not look fully seated so I stabbed her several times and used a remote starter can feel her slip into the oil pump, still dose not look fully seated. With the electrical connection at the dizzy disconnected, and the oil filter off as well as the valve cover, I'm getting oil from the oil filter port and oil up to the rockers, it doesn't shoot out, just seeps. When I install everything and start her, the oil pressure gauge (stock) barely goes up, so I shut her down immediately. I removed the sending unit and made sure no debris and cranked her with it off and oil flows out of its port as well. While cranking her once with the electrical connection at the dizzy disconnected, the gage went to the high side.

Oil does not shootout of the rockers.

If you are dribbling oil out of hte rockers, you are good to go

I would hook up a mechanical guage for the time being just to ease your mind. Then get a new sending unit and see what happens. I once had a 74 that did the same thing and it was the sending unit.

The sending unit is new, should the needle indicate half way (at 12 O'Clock position) at idle?

If you have concerns, hook up a mechanical guage like stated above. My F.5 hits 50psi with cold oil, at rpm it stays at 50, idles around 25.

My 74 is in top shape and dribbles out of the rockers....and the needle varies dependng on engine speed/load. Sound like your gravy. Long live the f.5
