Yea.. yea.. I know.. another oil pan is leaking thread.

How much of a big deal is it?

I have noticed rust is very limited underneath as of the oil everywhere... Maybe Toyota should offer it as an option.

So.. is it a major concern ?... I have not noticed any performance problems..

Check to make sure that all the bolts are tight to spec - more than half of mine were loose. That might reduce the leakage...in any case, it's not a big worry unless you're loosing oil quickly. Just remember to keep it topped off, and you're good to go for miles and miles...

Mine has been leaking for years, 2 years with me, the PO who bought it new in 84 says it's been leaking since 1990 or so. I put off fixing it cause I had a good drip pan in the garage and was waiting to do the clutch (which has nothing to do with getting the pan off I just wanted to ldo it all at once and stop all leaks (for a while, i hope) at one time. My clutch is oil soaked and chattering under load, Mechanic called friday and said it had "brunt" oil discoloration on the flywheel from the leaks. Other than that it seemed the clutch was just normally worn out.

It's in the shop now for the clutch et all and the oil pan. I'll post in a day or two about what all was leakintg and how much $ it cost to have done, Yes one can do the oil pan and clutch in one's garage, not me though, maybe in 20 years I'll do the next one...

It's not a concern unless you care about the appearance of your driveway, or let the level get too low.
