Along with gaskets between the F and 2F. I have a oil-pan gasket I bought when I had the F-engine in it. It looks as though I have some broken spot welds on my 2F pan gasket now. Will the F oil-pan gasket fit the 2F oil-pan?

Errr....Yeah. That did kinda come out funny. :o The spot welds that attach the lower plate onto the oil pan. There are like 6 spot welds. Anyway, I noticed oil collecting around the skid plate. I wiped down the entire oil pan, and watched it as the engine was running (wheels chocked, of course), and I see oil as the engine warms up a bit collecting between the oil pan, and the skid plate that is attached. I think that a spot weld maybe cracked inside, and as the engine oil warms a bit, it seeps through the crack around the spot weld. Its not bad, but maybe a drip every minute or so, but its bugging me. So, I may drop the pan, and see if I can weld up a crack or something. There isn't any rash to the pan from hitting something, but I don't know what else it could be. Its not coming from around the gasket, and I already changed the oil plug gasket thinking that was it.

It is not unheard of that the oil pan cracks around the spot welds and creates a leak.

Yes, the 4 piece gasket is a PITA

if you use it be careful on the corners if it does not line up with the holes. if you poke around with a screwdriver you can tear the end of the gasket out trying to line it up but I wouldn't know about that :rolleyes::lol:. I still got it to seal with sealant but it leaked initially

I put it on the pan put all the bolts thru the holes and held it in place while hand starting the bolts, with enough sealant most will hang there and a couple will fall out ---be better off punching my own hole as far off as they were plus you also have to makes sure the corners line up and are well sealed

I use sealant both sides of the gasket as well

SOR sells one piece oem and repro gaskets

I am back in my oil pan this weekend and am switching over to the one piece while I am at it. This time I may try hanging it on the engine side first and installing the bolts without the pan until the sealant goes off---then put the pan on, I guess I'll see if that works better

Thanks guys

some good ideas. I have seen the string trick before but forgot about it ---been so many years since I have done this sort of thing!

Might go with just the sealant in the corners too since I have some 3M spray tack stuff already on the shelf that might work good

Jeez.....Now ya'll made me feel nervous about dropping the pan, for fear I'll end up with more leaks than I started with. The nearest Toy dealer is 70 miles away! maybe I'll just order one online. The original F-gasket I have is a NAPA Fel-Pro. Not sure of its construction (one-piece, two-piece, or many pieces). Guess I'll break it out over the weekend to look.
