Ok, so I have two separate gasket kits from rebuilds, and they both only came with one side of the oil pan gasket each....WTF?!?! I need to get this thing on tonight!!!

So, I have two side gaskets, and two 6"x1/4"ish quark strips (which are actually about 1/2" longer than the gap they go in)...

I'm at a loss here on how to even install these! I'm about to just use a ton of "The Right Stuff" gasket maker on the pan and the engine and just squish the quark between them!

I really should've been better prepared for this......ugh!!!

Are you talking about the 1FZ, cause you only use FIPG on both oil pans, no other preformed gasket.

There was a "cork" (damn auto-correct earlier) gasket on the entire pan when I pulled it off

I just did this today too. I used RTV and tacked both of the side pieces down to the block. I had to pry the gasket over a bit to line up all the holes. Just start at one end, put a screw in and work your way down. I had to trim the quark strips to fit by cutting about a quarter inch off of each one. Put a little extra RTV in the corners where the strips and flat pieces meet and put the pan on. It won't fit so you will have to work it into place by starting screws on either side and torqing them down evenly.

The OEM cork gasket is a 1 piece unit. No FIPG is used. If you're using an aftermarket gasket, then you're on your own.

Thread in about 6 or 8 8mm studs around the block and that will hold the gasket in place while you wrestle with the pan. Take the time to scotchbrite the block mating surface and spend some time properly cleaning the front and rear arch surfaces.

Exactly the answer I was looking for...let's hope there's no leaking!

The OEM one-piece gasket is much easier to work with. That being said, I got a leak-free seal on my old 2F using the 4-piece fel-pro gasket set, it just takes a lot of patience (and RTV).

I used 4 piece kit and TONS of "tge right stuff" RTV....we'll see what happens, lol. Thanks guys
