I was inspecting and noticed this leak. It looks like it's coming from the sensor (red arrow). It's not coming from the pan seal...

from looking at the FSM, it looks like the oil level sensor? Not sure.

suggestions?
Thanks all

Yes that's the oil level sensor. It has an o-ring gasket on the neck that sticks down into the oil pan. Even if that's not your leak, you're not out more than a buck or two to replace it, so it's a good place to start.

To avoid the hassle of ringing the stealership, being put on hold, quoting chassis number (twice), being put on hold, describing the part, waiting for part to come into stock, collecting the part... are these low-oil senders repairable ?

This 'low oil light' problem afflicts the diesels as well.

Cheers,

thanks! Now that I have the sensor identified, I'll call C-dan next week.

From the looks of it, maybe just a new o-ring or shaped gasket as you said Rookie.
I'll update when I replace (probably next weekend)

--there is more wetness above & around the sensor but that's b/c I started washing the engine before I decided I should take a picture to identify the part. hehe... but it's still about that clean LXTREME! :flipoff2: ;)

oh one more question- do I have to drain the oil before pulling the sensor or is the hole above oil level?

i just did this..o-ring,easy.

i was doing an oil change too but wet with oil or not i would think twas a good time to inspect and clean armature.
a little brake cleaner and gentle poking got er real pretty.
very delicate unit so i was gentle.
oem o-ring fixed the small leak:yawn:
