I am chasing an oil leak. Rapid leak when vehicle is running. At this point, can't really tell where it is coming from, lots of evidence of oil all over. Possibly originationg around the spark plugs? Wondering if trying some "seal restoration" is a good trouble shooting option?

if its all around your spark plugs i would look at your valve cover

I believe I found it. It must be the oil galley plug. When i filled it with oil, and started it, oil was pouring out of the plug above # 5 spark plug. Can this be fixed?

Yes sir, it can be fixed...

Mosey over here: http://www.ih8mud.com/cruisertech.php and look under engine for a few articles on this little source of frustration...

Most folks will pull the plug, tap the hole and screw in a threaded plug.

Good luck!

I am now not sure I am looking at the oil galley plug. It almost looks like a bolt that holds the valve cover on came out. This bolt would also possible hold the oil cooler hose in place? I am trying to find the correct terms from my Haynes manual so please excuse the ignorance. Would it make sense that Oil would leak out of there?

The bolts that hold the valve cover on come from up top.Where is this bolt? Side of engine? above which spark plug?

I found it! It is the oil Galley plug. not that my job is any easier now though. Thanks for all your help!

I did mine about 2 years ago. I'm not the most skilled guy around, but got it done OK and it's working great. PM me if I can help in any way.
