Hey I've got a HJ61 Cruiser with 12h-t factory turbo engine. I checked the coolant the other day and radiator had oil in it. Drained cooling system and there was about 1L of oil all up. Never overheated or anything. Does anyone have any ideas before i start pulling the head off? oh and the turbo was reconditioned about 5 months ago...
Cheers, Tim

Hi Tim,

Welcome to Mud. Lots of very helpful people here.

I'm not one of the experts, but what you describe sounds like a common head gasket issue. But I'm sure some the real experts will have more insight.

You will get more Diesel specific help if you put your post in the "Diesel tech 24 volts section". You are currently in the "80 series section", which is gas engine rigs.
Not that a lot of the guys don't have experience with both....

And we all like to see pictures of said rigs...

Cheers, good luck

If that motor has an oil cooler you may want to check that before pulling the head off. I had a different motor with a leaking cooler. Since oil pressure is higher than coolant pressure oil got in the coolant.

You don't have to pull the head to check for a head gasket issue. Just pull the plugs. If one of them is covered with coolant you know you have a problem.....voice of experience!

Thanks for all the advice! Will check the oil cooler first I think! I would check the plugs if it had them. The 12ht have a air heater rather than glow plugs! Cheers
