Is there a special tool to remove the oil filter "cover" on the 200-series LC? Just cracked my plastic cover today trying to get the friggin' thing off. While Im at it, does anyone know of an upgrade to this cover (something more substantial)?

KS13, this does not respond to your question regarding the oil filter cover but thought that newer forum readers like myself might be interested in an issue that my oil change guy told me about. I have an 08LC200. I guess there is a piece that fits inside the oil filter that prevents it from collapsing from pressure. My oil change guy serviced a Tundra 5.7V8 back in 2008 and did not know this. Piece was not inserted in filter at oil change. Engine was ruined. He mentioned it to me when I was getting my oil changed. I didn't know this.

A little late... the wrench is 65mm 14 flute

The inner perofrated support tube will not easily pop out when the filter is removed. Click on the aluminum cap link above, you'll see how it is retained by two tabs.... this shouldn't be on your list of concerns... no worries.

I went for an oil change and had to wait long time because they did not have the proper oilcup spanner and that they might damage the plastic cover with universal oil filter spanner and they had to bring the proper spanner from another garage.
So after seeing this thread I decided to get the alluminium cover and the spanner
