I just received a few OEM filters (part 90915-20004) from CDan for my FZJ80 and wanted to check if there would be any problem using one on my BJ70? From searching the forum, it's apparent that both rigs can use the (dreaded) Fram PH8A, which leads me to believe that a 20004 in a 3B engine would be OK - but maybe there's something about the diesel engine that makes this a bad idea? The 20004 is the "small" OEM filter, and it's definitely way smaller than the Wix 51515 on there now.

PS - Sorry for creating another post about oil filters. I know it's been written about to death, but I didn't an answer to this question in the stickies or elsewhere.

Whats dreaded about the PH8A? I know that Fram is less than stellar, but are they really an issue? I have one on my BJ60 at the moment because thats all I could get in a pinch.

I've just read enough on this and the 80 Series forum to make me think that I'll avoid that model.

very good call. buy a box of ten -20004 filters from CDan and be done with filter issues for a few years.

He said he was out, which was why I got the small OEM filter.

And it seems like there's no definitive answer if the small one would work on a 3B. If no one has tried it before, I'm not going to be the first!

the smaller -20004 will work fine on the 3B. no issues. i personally just like following EPC directives. :)

so CDan was out of the 15600-41010 filters?

shame on that bald bearded old man! ;)
