I was searching for alternative oil filters out there on the interwebs, and came across this list, that cross-references with the Toyota Part: 15601-68010, which is the part number for my 2H engine HJ60. Not having tested anything in the list except for the Beck-Arnley (so I can vouch for sure that it works), I thought it prudent to post it here, so that anyone with experience with the other brands can chime in to confirm if the part works or not.

I've been burned once, where I bought a filter online only to find it didn't fit (although it was advertised to fit). It wasn't a total loss though, as I passed it on to the local Lordco guy who happened to have a Cruiser as well (3B engine, I believe) that that filter should work with.

Anyway, here's the list:

AC-Delco PF2204
Baldwin BT221
BIG A 92627
CARQUEST 85627
CROSLAND 2041
Donaldson P550707
Fleetguard LF3399
FLEETRITE LFR-83399
Fram PH4704
HASTINGS BT221
KRALINATOR L6
LUBER-FINER LFP923
Mann Filter W933/80
NAPA 1627
Wix 51627

OE Part numbers matching this oil filter:
Toyota 15601-68010

Seriously? Nobody's used any of these alternatives on their 2H before?

I did use Donaldson on my 40 series 3b when I was a kid... Was long enough ago now I can't be sure what the part number was... I do remember there was a couple brands ( Fram being one of them) that wouldn't take the winter start up high oil pressure. I wound up having them uncurl at the base crimp and blow the can right off.
The donaldsons I remember seemed to be made of much heavier construction and never "ballooned" on me.

There is a place in abbotsford just off the Mt Lehman exit called nicland filter. They are a Hugh filter house and carry most big brand stuff. They mainly cater to the industrial side of things but I have always gotten anything I've needed from 20hp Honda genset filters to Donaldson power core stuff. There prices have not been beet by anyone I've called..... That being said I'm an OEM type of guy and my HDJ81 has never seen anything other :)

My mechanic shop gave me the Napa 1627 because they said they couldn't import any OEM filters out of Canada. I have not installed one yet but am glad to see it on the list above. I'll up date when I install it in a few months.

Oil filter part numbers are odd.

Mine is/was 15600-41010 but that seem to have been superseded by your 15601-68010.

And I have the following listed as oil filters that I've used over the years (instead of Toyota ones):
Ryco Z9 or Z115
AC PF2
Highway 51016
FRAM PH8A
FULL ADF180

So I guess that means FRAM PH8A must be the same as FRAM 4704 and AC PF2 must be the same as AC-Delco PF2204:meh:

These days I just stick with Ryco Z9 anyway. They're always on the shelf at the discount stores in this part of the world and the Ryco brand doesn't have any "poor-quality issues" that I'm aware of.

I have used donaldson, ac delco, ryco, sakura, oem, wix, terrain tamer. I use to think donaldson was up there with oem but , I bought them in bulk and it does appear as they age, unused, the o'ring seal breaks free from the filter. I never had troubles with donaldson until of late with the filters which sat around for 3-4 years. I am not over tightening but the o'ring keeps just popping off the filter.

I can only conclude that fresh rubber is best. They all seemed ok otherwise. Always nice to use oem if you can afford it.

Have not done an oil sample test or cut the filters open, change max 5k kms, just try to keep it clean.

Have used Massey Ferguson and Kubota filters on the 13bt.

further more , I had some wix equivalent filters same age sitting on the shelf the same time as the donaldson, the o'ring has held up fine with no oil leaks, so the wix has better shelf life than donaldson it seems.

I go by the coolest name or grab the cheapest I can find. Most are made in the same chinese factory anyway and unless you're hunting Ibisis in the Sahara they'll all do the trick if you change it every 5000 miles. Just my worthless (canadian) 2 cents.
