Hey guys,

The one or two nightly drops of oil under my rig are coming from the bottom of the dust shield in the tranny bellhousing, the oil gathers and drips from the two lowest bellhousing/engine bolts. I assume this means that either my engine rear seal or my tranny input shaft is seeping somewhat, but I suspect the tranny because the oil is clearish, unlike the engine oil which is black. Would you concur?

I assume that the tranny won;t run dry as this seal is well above the oil level...thoughts on this as well?

Thanks guys.

Mine also has a little bit of oil in that area...specifically right near that foam piece, right? Mine doesn't drip enough to leave stains on the ground, but there s a bit of wetness there. I've been told that most diesel Cruisers do this, and it's not necessarily a cause for alarm unless it's excessive.

My BJ-73 does the exact same thing as Stoney is describing. The foam piece under mine gets sorta saturated. I don't get any drips on the drive though. My KZJ-70 is bone dry underneath. The only leaks you see come from the AC system doing exactly what it's supposed to do: DRIP WATER!

Do you think this can be caused by the t-case seal/breather plug problem? I.e. the tranny oil is overflowing its regular limits. Just a thought. Have you checked the tranny oil level lately?

Funny you should say this, when I filled the tranny around Xmas, I think I overfilled it because as I re-installed the filler plug, it was pretty much gushing out. I knew that would come back to haunt me. The leaking really minor (about 1 drop/24hrs) but I'm big into the look of my driveway.
