oil cooler for a 22re?

you know, i often wondered about this. i know there is a stock oem oil cooler for the turbo 22re. it screws in between the oil filter and block and goes to some external heat exchanger thing. but i dont see why you couldnt use one on a regular 22re. its the same block as far as i know.

i dont know where the heat exchanger part is located, so there may be some interference or something, but its worth looking into.

After market sandwich plate info

The sandwich plate adapter with thermostat was made by Mocal (part # OTSP1) Ordered from here:

I've seen the oil filter sandwich plate adapters on ebay for $40 or lower - there are also kits that include the plate, hose w/ threaded ends and the cooler itself if you look around a bit (7MGE Supra kits should use the same oil filter threads as 22RE)

rockdoc bought a Amsoil oil filter relocation/ double filter kit, I have often thought about doing the same on a mini truck.

Purchase an oil filter block off adapter, a remote oil filter adapter, Earls oil cooler exchanger and AN 12 SS braided hose with adapter fittings and hose ends. I have this on my truck for the last 20+ years and no problems.
