hey HDC,

Just changed my Oil since getting this pig this winter. I was surprised to see i only burnt about 1 qt in about 2500 miles. I thought it would be more since its got about 175k o the odo. Anyway i went with a high mileage valvoline 10-40 and original toyota filter. The dealer says i can put a larger filter on but its harder squueze into place. what oil and filter are you guys using?

p.s i hope to catch up with you guys again, but bike racing season is starting and ive been putting alot more miles on the bike than in the truck.

90915-20004. The only oil filter any 1FZ-FE should see.
:)

I also run the 90915-20004 on my 2FE. I've run it on my 22RE, but I have dry starts in the morning, so I'm going back to domestic spec.

90915-yzzd3 is that the right one Beno?

90915-yzzd3

90915-20004

What is different in the construction of the two filters?

The -YZZD3 filter is a paper element. The -20004 is a resin element.

Puny pic, but here ya go of a resin element 90915-YZZB5 (made in Japan). It was superseded by the -20004.

90915-20004. There are only two places I know of where you can get them. ;)

edit: For the record, I believe John Hocker at Sierra Toyota in AZ also sells them.

Thank you.

I may or may not have a line on the Japanese D3 filter for a 4.7L (i use it on my 3.4L) in Washington.

No such thing. All D3s are hecho in Thailand.
Japanese market gets all Denso filters.

The 3.4 technically takes a -YZZD1, which goes to a G1...I Like using the -20004 on pretty much everything. I even used it on my Honda.

The -20004 even works on my Sienna. I've also run on my Fj40, FJ60, FJ62 and FJ80. Good stuff. They work great on older Land Cruisers even though the "big" filter is specified.

I got to see Beno cringe when I installed a Napa 1515 filter on my FJ40's new motor this past weekend.:D I'll install a good filter once it's run in a bit.

The only place I know to get them is from Beno or Cruiserdan. They are worth having and extremely cool.

That's awesome.. I had the thought once of trying it on my Sienna as well, but can't remember what stopped me. What year of Sienna do you have? If it is the 2004+ then I think I will be switching to these too.. and definitely need to order 2 cases instead.

It's a 2004 Sienna. Some time after mine they switched to a cartridge type oil filter. If yours takes a spin on, the -20004 will work. But of course, I'm not recommending it, just saying I used it! Oil change coming up in a week or two and I plan on using another.
