Anyone do topside oil changes? I had a ski boat that was a pain to drain out the bottom so I just used a vacuum pump with a hard, one piece hose down the dipstick tube. Seemed to work pretty well and all the oil was collected in a sealed container when I was finished.

interesting idea...though I wonder if it would get most of the oil out.
I suppose if you got 7 quarts out you should be fine.

Also - is Blackstone the most popular oil testing lab here on mud?
Thinking of testing my oil.

All good info. I like using the giant cookie sheets with raised edges under my pan, these are at Autozone. Rarely do I do this deed and transfer into my 5-gallon storage jug without incident.

Tool question. So I tried the big plier type grips to no avail. Im gonna try my strap wrench next. This is the huge Toyota filter on the 1hdt. Has anyone tried torching the filter to make it expand and contract? I'm not sure i can hammer a screwdriver through it.

Stuck on?
These work pretty well- but the screwdriver hack would be my first try before spending $ on a new wrench.
