After my rock bashing of the under carrage, I am getting a popping noise from the right front end.
It only does this every once in a while when turning.
I can't get it to do this when I try.
If I rock the front end up and down on the right side front I hear a metal to metal sound. Don't know if they are related.

I felt the tie rods ends and they are smooth but I don't know how to tell if rod ends are bad though???

TREs are what I would assume, I get the same pop but it seems to be on the DS. Concretejungle had the same issue and said new TREs solved it, but it might be a differnt problem with the same sound.

It ended up being the front sway bar at the mount.
There is a hole where it was welded that was just waiting for a nut and bolt to go in its place.
Its still holding.

I had the same noise but didn't find out where it came from until it was too late. I was in southern UT on the Hole in the Rock trail when my sway bar moved over and broke my PS brake line. I had to drive 90 miles each way to Blanding in my brothers truck to buy/fabricate parts. We eneded up cutting the trip short after spending a day getting things fixed :crybaby:. The bracket on my sway bar broke at the weld and I had to have a new one made. You may want to make sure that's not going to come loose again. Those brakets are welded on instead of bolted. It's no fun having a broken brake line on the trail.

I had popping sound under from end of 1992 when I would turn the wheel and go on any incline/decline. Found a youtube video where a guy had that sound and he put a camera under his car and drove it... showing it to be the bushings in the control arms that hold up the axle. Bought SOR's kit and as I replaced them all which took forever, I noticed that yes my panhard bars bushings were not so great, nor were the mounting bracket rubber for the sway arms. Still had the popping... got under there yet again and start messing with tie rod ends thinking they may have come loose? basically they are just shot... so I have new ones coming this week. I tested by grabbing the bar between the ends and rotating it... one end you can hear hitting metal to metal.

What did you think of the quality of the SOR bushing kit?

funny turn of events.... to answer your question I think the quality was great. Took forever to change them all our but they look beefy. so I got all the front ones changed out and the popping actually got worse. Then further diagnosed the popping as the tierod ends... got new ones and installed yesterday. Still got a slight pop. I dont get it. It is way better but still doing it. So the search continues. I really thought I had it whipped.

Thanks, the Sor kit seem complete and a decent price.
