Hey new here, Just got my FJ40 a few weeks ago. Can't figure out how to post images here without a UrL? Anyway it is a 1980 model and needs paint. Has 33x10.5 with heavy SOR springs. bounces like a beach ball. I call it Bouncing Betty! (landmine) any way i don't go off road much anymore with to little ones but will go when i have time. My first 4x4 was Pinzgauer and then I still have my Haflinger. Had a Very Rare Jagdwagon Hunter VW Crew Cab with front and rear lockers for a little while and now selling my 88 Sammy Rock Crawler. I don't plan on going crazy with this one as I did with the Sammy. I just want to drive it and have fun with it.

Jon in NC

Hey Jon, Where did you get that Diamond plate sill replacement. I need to pick one up.

Try not to do Diamond plate, try to do the actual sill replacement. Will help keep out rust.

It was on there when I bought the rig. Yes it does cover RUST. I'm thinking of fliping springs and cutting anyway.

yeah I an not a fan of covering anything. I was planning on cutting out the old rusted portion and replacing it with the Diamaond plate part. I have been looking at just replacing the sill but I really like the look.

There will be a club meeting in the next few weeks, also a trip to uwharrie the last weekend in july. As for joining contact info and club meetings are the start, hoping to meet in a central location such as greensboro. Those willing to help put this together and find a local meeting point let me know. Thanks, greg
I would love to help if possible. I live in greensboro and can get with a few locations as a potential meeting location....let me know what the consensus is as far as the type of place.

I would be up for meetings anywhere. I do like the idea of moving them around to make sure more people can attend. We should be up for both trips to Uwharrie.

I think we finally have found the windshield frame that was keeping us from the road. I've been chatting with RK and will pick it up on Monday. Hope you don't mind hitting the trail with a cruiser or many colors tagging along. Only problem is the wiper mounts. Anyone know how to convert from lower mounts to upper? or will I need to find an upper wiper mount assembly? Thanks in advance for the advice.

your will need a upper mount wiper motor, will see what i got. Yeah i think that would be good for everyone, too travel around, however some don't want to spend the money on gas with prices where they are. When we make it to Uwharrie we can discuss more organized events.

I will hopefully be installing my J kit on the 80 next weekend.

Sounds good. Thanks for looking out for us on that upper wiper motor. I've wanted a cruiser for about 10 years. It all started when I saw the John Deere cruiser in action. That thing is amazing. To wait that long and finally have one, it is driving me nuts.

Another idea for club meetings would be to hold them at an event and include a trail ride, cookout, camping or whatever. That way no one is traveling just to talk and there will be more incentive to attend. No one wants to drive for an hour just to talk for 30 minutes....Just a thought.

Mud in the Blood

Currently in Charlotte, go to Uwharrie as much as possible.

I just picked up the 40 a few months ago, needs a few things, but nothing major.

Sanded the top and the fenders this weekend and got the first coat of paint on them, then the wind blew ad tree trash fell all over the fenders...so much for working outside on a beautiful day!
