There is some light dry cracking on them in the tread area. Not bad but it is starting.

Yeah, immediately after we moved in. Much prefer wood.

I go the wood route as well. We heat both the house and shop with wood. Something satisfying in not paying Duke power or the propane company for my comfort.
Yeah converting to wood is something i've thought about it... just wondering if it actually effects resale value down the road.
No clue. Didn't even consider that. All I knew is that I love wood fireplaces and wanted one in my house
