@FJinTegaCay the Kelly Blue Book is anywhere from $1500 to $4100 for private party sale on a 1997 Lexus LS400. How negotiable is he? My 2003 Camry work car would disappear in a heartbeat for that car.

Oh and my daughter is learning how to drive in the 100 series. Scary, I know.

When we last traded emails, he was going to take it to Carmax to see what they would offer. Depending on how that went, he might be. If you're serious, let me know and I'll check with him. I know he already turned down an offer of $3k.

Ended up totaling my 60 and it is currently at the copart in Lumberton--if anyone is interested or wants any more info on the work I've done or history of it, let me know.

You totalled that out? You had full insurance on it? Man, what a waste.....it's 99% good and tons of good parts. Not to mention it could have been fixed on the cheap.

We need to plan an intervention.
We'll have him drive the Prius up the back side of Daniel. That will be convincing enough.

That would be a riot!

But, the prius is gone . . . . we own a '96 LX and a '04 Tacoma now (after the 97 is gone).

So I will show up with my "least capable" family vehicle, and each of you can do the same and we will have a go at it?

When insurance is going to pay over $10K for a 60 that has 306k miles and needs mechanical work on top of the damage, I think it was a no brainer--especially when I'm starting a new job this month and won't have the time. I'm hopefully getting a nicer 62 in better shape with less miles this weekend and still have $$ leftover.

The 60 is definitely in great shape and about as rust free as you can get. Hopefully someone in the area can fix it up or use the parts.

Right there with you dude! I'd take that 10K (which hopefully was not attached to a premium increase) and not look back! Beats the hell out of parting the truck out over months...which you likely wouldn't have gotten 10k out of.

Comprehensive claim for a tree falling on the truck while parked equals no premium increase. Winning all around (relative term). Good luck with the inspection of the "new one".

Dang right! Glad it’s working out in your favor like that. Sucks to lose one but definitely a no brainer.

I wish you would have bought it back and sold it. Can't buy from copart unless you're a registered dealer in NC.

well recently moved to NC ... was part of Yankee toys for a few yrs when I lived up in CT. Still have a FJ40 and working on an FJ60 with Isuzu diesel swap. Looking forward to being part of the group here. On a side note , i'm currently looking for a 4th gen 4runner 2006 -2009 preferably sport edition if anyone is selling or see one around with lower miles ~100k
