If I recall dissent has a monolithic AL skid for this area behind the crossmember. No idea if it is still made.

That’s what I try to remember to do (well, easy access mode), but these guys use jacks to steal tons of Prius cats, so….
Dropping in L everytime is hassle and also cat thieves come equipped with jacks so that really doesnt deterr them. I looked at budbuilt and really like them.
Do you have link or full name of AL skids?

Yeah, I guess jacking up a Prius is one thing, but jacking up a cruiser seems like a job. We have a lot of CC thefts here but I haven’t heard about any involving large SUVs. In any case, it never hurts to have some extra protection underneath.
I think Dissent and Bud Built both offer aluminum options.
Dissent is unavailable until 2022, but bud built looks good as well. Any other light cost effective since my purpose is not to take it offroad so rigidity doesnt matter, just need something underneath to hide cats.
I thought about doing the Total Chaos skids, but 1. wasn't sure how much of the cats they cover, and 2. I really like the oil filter and drain ports on the Bud Build skids.
A set of Bud Built skids are less than half the cost of factory Cat replacements, so that's how I justified it in my head.
If you're worried about cost, just do the Bud Built Transmission skid by itself.

Yes… well, the entire body mount is actually moved back on the frame a few inches. But, if you notice, the floor jack is up all the way and the tire is just barely touching the floor, so I was able to swing the tire under the body/firewall that I will soon be cutting back. Not a real world steering test when it’s up at full droop.
There would have to be massive surgery to make this work and then, still, it would have to have the steering reduced to keep the tire off the frame behind the tire.

Did you have to do much to clear the 37s in the rear? It looks pretty darn intact. Any pics of the relocated BM you’d be willing to share?
No, 37’s fit easily in the rear. You would need to trim a little bit of the plastic bumper along the back bottom edge and the mudflap has to go. Then a little “massaging” of the pinch seam behind the mud flaps.
I don’t have any pics of the body mount, unfortunately.
it was parked for less than 3 hours at children`s hospital parking garage for 3 year old`s dental surgery. it is very busy part of town.

I like! The 40" MTR only weighs 3 more lbs and that 42" only 8 more than your tires now.
There is something to be had by dialing in the correct amount of offset/backspacing and scrub radius. IIRC a 5" taller tire would add a lot of positive scrub. Therefore adding a 1.25" wheel spacer (negative scrub) would probably get you back to closer to what it was with the 37 and just the wheel itself. It could obviously induce more problems via fender tucking clearance, but you can cut fenders and you can't really cut the frame.
