Interesting that the frame ends are different. I wonder if a factory elec winch would mount. Tow hooks are welded on, too.

Looks like the winch mounting plate uses the mounts for the US tow hooks. Could make it a fairly easy bolt on. Depends on how the different frame rail ends effect the whole assemly. They might be just to clear the winch motor.

anybody ever really inestigate this as possible?, basically a swap of bolt on parts and fitting an aftermarket electric winch

sorry to bring this back all the way from 2006

I have a complete OEM winch off of a Japanese import if anyone is interested, like the ones that have been show above.
Winch, controller, leads, bumper 'electric winch' cover etc. etc.

How about an 80 series PTO? Pictures, years, etc?

There is a friend here that have a 80 with factory PTO .. the red one.

but anybody ever do a striaght oem swap?

My OEM winch unit has arrived with all the goodeis in the above pictures (mounting plate, bumper, fairlead, plastic cover, remote, etc.). I don't have time to put it on yet. Hopefully, it will fit right on with minimum to no modification, since I'm zero banana. :D

I'll keep you posted when I finish it and, if possible, will try to do a write-up thread but my English is so poor. :(

Cheers! :)

im really interested is this too. any updates? it seems the OEM winch was an option on UK cruisers, though ive never seen one. my local main dealer can get me one for over £4000 pounds!! my owners manual also has winch operating instructions, including the PTO winch with controls in the cab.

anyone have any information on the fitting of the PTO winch, or where i can get either from at a reasonable price??

I have some pics of OEm winch bumpers and winches on on of my posts (cruisers I've driven around the world)

If you're in VA, I'd go on over to where I used to work in Springfield, VA and show you all the Cruisers waiting to ship out to different US embassies and all... to include a number of 105s parked out there.

toyota winches and bumpers,.. Toyota Lifts,.. Coolers in the console.. pure LC porn.

v/r,

Bill

Hey Duke...any luck with this? I'd like to see how you faired, how much work it took, and what exactly it entailed...

I have this OEM Aisin winch on my rig - 11,000 lb rating - I think the decal above was for the cable.. exterior controller with military conection plug and reaches enough to sit in the cab running the cable through an open window or sunroof. The best feature to me is the line pull speed, no figure on that but faster than most.

I had the factory bumpber but removed for better approach angle - to me it appears 'fatter' where the fender meets it and I know for sure that the 81 front fenders are different than the 80 series.

If you're serious put a post in the diesel section and someone will let you know.

Done & done: https://forum.ih8mud.com/diesel-tec...rofitting-oem-winch-bumper-into-us-fzj80.html. Now just awaiting an answer. Thanks!

Hi, you wouldn't by any chance have the wiring diagram for the socket or even better a remote that you want to sell!! I am trying to find a remote for this winch and can't find one anywhere, so my other option is to mount a switch in the cab.......
