its a direct cross over. You could do it no problem.
Though I think it would be a good idea to have a dual battery system for winching.
Its a pretty slick winch. There really clean and I like mine a lot.
A guy in vancouver just sold his whole winch bumper set up for $400 bucks.
Steal of a deal. Theres usually someone on here that wants a different one.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info!

Given the winch is electric, is the wiring pretty straightforward? Does the FZJ80 already have a harness to plug the winch into? Or do I gotta run power & ground lines, hook it into the fuse box for it's own fuse, etc?

One more...at the risk of opening up a can of worms, what's the simplest, most straightforward dual battery setup that'll be adequate? I'm not looking to tow myself out of rivers of mud; this is so I can tow (non-op) cars up a car carrier.

TIA!

Ok .....common .... in north america most trucks with winches dont have twin batts...lets face it. one good batt with at least a 850cca rating is required, prefably a deep cycle or optima yellow. I ren a red top 850 in my Zuk with a tmak 6500 running the winch on the side posts for 3 years ...and i know optima suggests against running heavy loads on side posts. You will have to run pos and ground to your batt. put mil spec terminals on your cables and tie in there. I know *eep owners have figured this out , i know we can.

you need to source a couple of things .. the most dificult its the rubber lip that goes in between bumper and body coz the winch bumper ( ir order to make room for the winch ) sits a bit forward ... in my Marilu thread ( my sign ) have a few pic of my Toyota winch instalation in my factory bumper .. ( yes I just cut it )
