It's Complicated
I searched and could not find anything on this but I am new so forgive me if it has been discussed already. My cruiser was hit in the US drivers rear corner while parked and is almost done being fixed.
I went to check on it today and noticed that the trim between the flare and rear quarter panel was painted (only rear half of the one flare). When questioned the guy said that you could only get it in black and paint it to match.
I believe that is the case with special color paint but mine is a white 97, factory original, and never in an accident before. Looking at the rest of the "stock" flare trim they are slightly discolored with an uneven orange hue as plastic does after years of exposure to the sun. I also see the trim appears white behind the flare for the factory pieces and black on the new one if looked at from the "end" where the rear flare splits between the door and quarter panel. I am extremely anal and cannot handle looking at the different colored trim. I now have to replace them all to match even though I know this is a major pain. I really want Toyota parts not cheap aftermarket. CruiserDan or anyone know if this guy is full of it or am I screwed?
