OEM Tires from factory

I think i have decided to get the 225/75/15 originals that were
monted on steel rims. These are going to be a second set
when i'm not running my new 30/9.50/15 Kuhmos. Sort

Do you think visually there will be a noticeable difference between 225/75R15 and 30x9.5R15 tires? There's a little more than one inch in diameter difference (depending on brand).

I wrestled with getting 225 and 235/75R15 and 30x9.5 & 31x10.5 in various brands, including Kumho Road Venture KL-78. It will either be that or more than likely BFG AT KO (since it's got a snow rating). Both are excellent choices. My father just got the Kumhos for his truck. Is that the one you're getting too?

I think the 30" tires are not too far from the stock size, so there shouldn't be too much of a performance decrease or visual detraction. I can only get one set of tires, so I decided the 30" BFG's would be the best all around compromise in my case.

Well more than anything i have to see what they originaly
looked like when they came new. And i also want to use
the factory steel rim when i get my Kumhos. Yes i am
going to buy the KL-78's as they are very resonable and
seem to have good ratings. Post pics of yours when they
get on your BJ60 and i will also when i get mine.

Sure thing. I ended up ordering BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO last night and should be able to get them on this weekend or next weekend. It's going to be the 30x9.5R15 size. Luckily I found one BFG in that size in the local paper (never used, but a few years old - was his spare) which I will also use for my spare. It's on an aluminum rim that fits a Jeep, if anyone wants it. My father has the Kumho Road Venture KL-78 on his Sonoma in LT235/75R15. So far he's really happy with them. I'll get a picture of those too if you like, even though they're not on a Land Cruiser, but you can see what that size looks like when installed. As soon as I get the new tires for my BJ60 I'll take some pictures too.

I've had the tires for a little while now, but haven't had a chance to drive the BJ60 much. I took some pictures today, but they're not very good since I can't get the truck out of the garage at this time. Will take better pics later. I've also attached a "before" picture when I had some cheap, well word P rated Wal Mart winter tires in P235/75R15.

Now I have 30x9.5-15 LT tires, BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO. They're just slightly bigger than stock, so they fill in the wheel well a bit better, but not too big as to slow down my 4 cylinder diesel too much when passing or going uphill. This is also the smallest size in the flotation tire. This is also one of the only AT tires that has a severe snow rating which is important where I live.

Got an older, barely used 30" BFG AT (not a KO) for a spare. Not sure if it will fit under the truck. If not, I'll use one of the old tires as the spare and keep the 30" tire at home. Currently the spare is the original Dunlop bias ply tire. I also took off the hideous pinstriping that gave it that snazzy 1980s used car appeal. A quick application of Turtle Wax on the body and chrome polish on the rims & bumpers makes the truck look better already.

BFG's are notoriously undersized...you should have no problem fitting a 30 underneath as a spare.

Yes, I thought the tire looked a bit smaller than I expected it to, but that's OK. It won't throw my speedometer off too much or slow me down when passing, going uphill, etc. So far, I'm quite happy with the tires. My father convinced me to put the white letters showing. I was just about to have them on the inside.

That would be great if I could have room for my 30" spare tire under the truck. BTW, it's not a KO, just a BF Goodrich Radial All Terrain T/A. Same tread pattern though. Probably about five years old or more, before BFG started making the A/T KO. That's fine, it's just for a spare tire and cost about one quarter of what a new one did. Some guy had it for his spare on a Jeep, and it was under a cover the whole time, so no weather cracking at all.

Not that I plan on installing any larger tires, but good to know they'll fit if I ever do. I think the 30" tires were a good compromise for me in a lot of ways. Can't wait to see how they do long term in all different types of driving conditions.

I also have the original spare....complete with the little "hairs". my question is: is this tire safe to use if i need it? or will it fall apart if used because it is so old? it still holds pressure just fine. the need to use it has never presented itself. any thoughts? ideas? hate for a fully treaded tire to go to waste...
