Any regular Scion unit will fit no specific year, just make sure to disconnect the stock amp because the Scion unit already has an internal amp.

..

I have a Scion HU unit that I bought from another mud member but I never installed it and probably won't. It's a 2005 I believe but I can confirm it when get out of this damn cube I work in. I was going to list it for sale tonight

So that means I can get the 6 disc in dash changer?

yep, just make sure whomever you buy it from puts the shipping screws
back in so the disc changer doesn't get jostled around in transport.
I opted for the single disc as a CD-R disc will hold about 130 songs.
The newer version of mine has an Ipod connector all set up.

Got mine on ebay for $70.00.

Thanks David.

I replaced the stereo in my scion Xb as well as my 93 FZJ80.
Pretty much the same when it comes to the wiring. Both stock units are history. The vehicles are now sporting alpines. The new unit is half the size so a kit can be purchased at walmart to fill in the hole. It works perfect, plus I always need a new cubby. Aftermarket stereos will work with the designated harness (again purchased at walmart). Disconnect the factory stereo and the plugs you need to use will be hanging right there.

just won a scion radio on ebay for $70 shipped. Not bad.

I put a Scion single CD in my 62, I did not have the original 62 bracket so I had to fab a mount, also had to trim a lot f extra plastic off the head unit and a little of the 62 dash to shoe horn it in there, It sounds good for the $40 I had into the HU and 80 in speakers but it is a pretty weak HU as far as power output, just fine for the 62 but not sure I would be happy with it in the 80.

Keep in mind the Scion units front face is wider than your stock radio. You have to trim the front face of it to be even with the metal sides of the unit for it to fit. No big deal, I hack sawed mine to close, then used a dremel and a sanding wheel to get it right.

Do a search for Scion head unit. There are a couple other little things, like which plugs to use, and be sure to unplug the stock amp.

I think the power for the Scion is more than enough for the 80.
I don't even have upgraded speakers and it sounds great.
It is rated at 160watt X 4 which I believe is more than the
stock unit.

Thanks david. I am sure it will sound fine for my Family wheeler.

This is one of the coolest things I've learned here. :D I've been debating which new stereo to put in the 94.

Have any of you with the Scion radio activated the satellite service? Can you pick which ever service you want? You'll still have to buy some other hardware to make it work, right?

I didn't activate it, but it is XM only
You'll need the buy the XM hardware as well.

Anybody know if the Scion units have a pre-amp outlet that will allow you to hook up another amp to it in order to drive a subwoofer? Also, someone mentioned that the wattage output from the Scion unit was kinda weak..... Isn't it like 40 watts per channel? I'm assuming that's plenty for a FJ-62. That's more than most aftermarket stereos.
