I've search and can't find an answer to this questions so here goes -
I may have the "opportunity" to purchase some new old stock OEM reach quarter panels. Like these with the rails and all -
NOS TOYOTA LANDCRUISER FJ40 FJ45 GENUINE PANEL ASSY REAR LH BODY SIDE 61620 | eBay
I'm redoing a 78. My existing tub is a little rough on the rear quarters cut wheel wells, some drilled holes for an aftermarket rear rack, etc.
Questions -
is there a difference between the panels on a 78 vs a 79+ truck?(I know the differences in the tubs overall but can't seem to find anything saying the rear quarters are different)
Do OME body panels have the "TEQ" logo stamped somewhere?
I think it's safe to assume that if I can get these for a decent price it'd be a no brainer as opposed to trying to rehab my existing tub panels.
Thanks in advance.

That's an interesting question. You're right that the tubs are different, but I'd assume that since the side panels are interchangeable that the rear quarter panels would be. That's just my assumption though. Gas door opening may be different?

Hi Catfish28

Yes the rear quarters are different pre '79 and after '79
The '78 back, bolt the the rear door pillar and then are are welded at the top tube rim. The '79 up panels have no 90 degree flange on them they are a straight edge( no 90 degree bend) where they attach to the rear door pillar and are spot welded to the flange on the rear door pillar which is parallel to the length of the vehicle and welded at the top similar to the '78 back. The back door shape is different ,rounded bottom left and right corners as against more square for '78 back.
If you need pictures let me know.
The e-bay pictures are for '79 up They certain look like OEM pieces. If they are copies they look like good copies. No TEQ stamp markings that i have seen ,just stick-on labels with part number and description and made in Japan
Thanks jb
