Recently picked up my first LX/LC, a 2011 LX570 with 71,000 miles. I've begun looking around for an OEM lancruiser roof rack to swap onto my LX and have only found:

1.) Unbranded options on eBay that I imagine are lower quality
2.) OEM roof rack parts from Toyota that would end up costing me nearly as much as a rack from Prinsu, Frontrunner, etc.

Does anyone have recommendations for either a high quality non OEM land cruiser roof rack, or a cheaper place to find an OEM land cruiser roof rack? I prefer the OEM look to an "expedition" style rack, but still can't justify paying $1,000+ on an OEM rack. Thanks!

I ended up going with LFD Off Road 3/4 Roof Rack - Stainless Steel - LC200 and LX570, $900 though and because headliner had to be dropped to install I let Toyota Specialities do it for another $900. I went with 3/4 cause I didn't want it covering the sunroof opening. Might have preferred Prinsu but couldn't find 3/4. By the way it wasn't an easy install, Toyota spent 10 hours on it but honord the 5 hour job they quoted, I guess a couple bolts were stripped.

Why did the headliner needed to be dropped?

I went through this same dilemma last year. Couldn't find one used at the time (I'm also impatient haha) and didn't desire for the cost of aftermarket or new OEM. I ended up getting an eBay one. Honestly it's fine. Sure quality isn't as good but it's 85-90% of the way there. Most people would never be able to tell it's not OEM unless they inspected it from a 2 foot distance or they were told it wasn't. Has held up very well on countless trips with a heavy yakima box up top and me using the rack as a grab handle to pull myself up to reach. Annoyingly an OEM LC rack popped up on facebook marketplace a few months later and there's been a couple others since. There's currently one near me that's been listed for 3+ months for $100. Deals are out there. Just have to look.

I don't have any close up pictures of the truck up high enough to see the rack. Here's the best I got on my phone.

Awesome I was hoping someone would have experience with one of the Ebay options - any chance you have a link to the particular rack you purchased there? Yours looks great, love the TRD wheels too.

Thanks! There’s a few other guys on Facebook who have had a very similar experience as me with the eBay ones.

I don’t have a link anymore unfortunately…they don’t have it up anymore. But seller was “tw2-auto-parts”. Honestly I just chose the cheapest listing with most reasonable shipping time. I chose a Taiwan seller as well. Usually things seem to come faster from there than China. I paid like $215 shipped and had it in 10 days.

Why did the headliner needed to be dropped?
As I understand the bolts come up from the inside and are loosely held in place and can fall down inside the headliner if not secured properly during the OEM rack take off. Mine was a Florida car so it had retained moisture under the mouldings and a couple of bolts had rusted bad and strripped and fell down into the headliner. The instructions with the LFD rack warn of this issue. By the way the rest of the car was rust free but thats why I didn't put the rubber molding back on, there is no need, their not visible anyway.

Yes I'm aware of the OEM bolt set up. I just thought that the dealer had told you that the headliner had to be dropped in order to install the rack. As you mentioned, it only has to be dropped if there are any issues with installation.

Where you located?

Im in SoCal and removed mine (from a 2010 LC) and its sitting in my yard.

Come get it and its Free.99

I’m also looking for an oem rack. So if anyone’s willing to ship, I’m in fort smith, AR.

yakima roof rack megawarrior roofrack cargo basket is what I have, its OEM and comes as a dealer install option. I like that its quick to install and remove it with ease.

Please let me know when this goes up for sale! If I haven't caved and ordered a Gamiviti I'd be very interested.
Speaking of Gamiviti, @nakman and other folks who do a lot of work in the roof rack business generally have piles of used OEM LC racks sitting around  There is another guy who works for a toyota dealership that outfits LC's for an "overlander" upcharge that has sent takeoffs to MUDder's in the past. Can't remember his name. If you want the LC rack, you will find someone's takeoff if you're patient. Gamiviti is a great option too if you're looking for something more beefy and customizable.
