This kinda bugs me, on the 100 if you lock out OD(button on shifter) and then turn the car off(and maybe just put in park and then back to D) the OD goes back on. On a 80 series if you lock the OD out, turn the cruiser off the OD is still off, which is the way I like it.

any clue why or is there a trick to change the 100 to work like the 80? same trany right?

I don't have a 100 series but the wifes car does the same thing. I believe the 80 has a push button switch which is on/off (open/closed circuit) that actually turns OD on/off, where as the newer switch is a momentary switch that sends a signal to the ECU to switch from one mode to the other, default being OD 'cuz the vehicle is more efficient or this way it is less likely someone will forget to turn the OD back on??? Kind of thinkin' it can't be changed, but maybe there is a trick out there. :)

that makes sense about the switch. I don't know why it bugs me.....if I hadn't driven an 80 then it prolly wouldn't ;)

I only very rarely turn mine off, but the other day I did and it stayed off after I turned the vehicle off and back on...maybe they can be set to function either way??? Or maybe 98 and 00 are different in this regard.

Yeah, I do not think my 98 goes off when the ignition turn off i.e. the button is a closed/open switch.

I doubt that you can change it since it is more than likely controlled by the ECU now and not the switch i.e. set to turn on every time the car is started.

Huh? Doesn't work that way on my '99 100. The OD button is a two-position switch -- the OD is on when the button is low-profile, and the OD is off when the button sticks out further under my thumb.

If the OD is off and I park, switch off and restart, the OD is still off.

looks like it changed in 2000, the button on mine does not stay in(or out) it just activates the OD on/off. whenever restated it defaults to the OD on.

LT, I would think you got it backwards, when the OD is on, the button I would think would be out, when off........it would be in(think this is like the 97 80)

Nope. As dyslexic as I sometimes am, this one is right. When the OD is on, the button is "in" or low-profile. Remember, that is Mr. T's preferred or default mode.

;p
