I can only speak for myself here, but is it possible to send out an email to members a few weeks prior to an event? I know there's a calendar posted, but frankly between work, kids soccer, leading a Tiger Cub den, volunteering at the kids school events and keeping the wife happy, these things have a way of slipping past. They typically only come to the top of mind when I find a free minute to jump on here and see what's happening with ONSC, and often times it's too late. Case-in-point I have already scheduled a cub scout event at Camp McNiell for the same weekend as this workday. With a friendly ping in my inbox a week or so ago, I'd have picked a different weekend for that trip.

I think, like many others, I'm just far enough out that this isn't really a good day trip, but a weekend plan. So it needs to be coordinated with the wife and kiddies. I generally enjoy this sort of work and want to do my part to help, so its not as if I'm ducking the work days, but with the rest of life taking place, they simply aren't at the forefront of my mind.

Absolutely, yes.

Do you think that an email one week in advance is enough (email goes out tomorrow) or would you prefer two weeks in advance?

two would work better for me

x2 on the two weeks

Planning to make this one.

Hi Everyone – Hope you all enjoy the Uwharrie Jamboree this weekend if you come up for it. This message is about the October 25th Work Day on the OHV trails. We’ll be doing some restoration work by seeding, mulching and fertilizing several areas along the trails that we have blocked off in the past. We’ll also be putting up some “No Vehicle” signs up and we’ll be moving the boulders that were for a vehicle barrier along the trail/road at Art Lilley and putting up “no vehicle” signs there too. Depending on how many folks we have we can also have a crew putting up orange diamonds, arrows and putting the number decals on the trail markers.

Please bring up shovels, garden rakes (with the thick tines), work gloves, work boots and be dressed for the weather and to work. If anyone has a small hand seeder please bring it up to use. We have a few hand seeders that we’ll have there for folks to use. Make sure to have water and food. I’m not sure if Snappy is planning on making lunch or not. We’ll need vehicles or trailers that can haul the straw bales up to the restoration areas. I’ll be flagging the areas this upcoming week. Rodney will have the straw bales on the trailer when we meet up.

Meet at 9 am at the Uwharrie Hunt Camp. Rodney & I’ll be working with you all next week and we’ll try to get as many areas as possible. Thanks a lot everyone. I’m looking forward to seeing you all and doing great work on the trails.

Laura will be riding with me :D

Going to see Wilco that evening, so we are out. Getting VERY close to Dozer making an appearance :D

Anyone in the Raleigh area want to caravan? I'll be driving and have my niece with me.
Also - is there any paperwork that she can bring back? She is logging volunteer hours with the YMCA and will need to turn something in -- a note, or anything.

Yes sir. Why don't you swing over to my place and we can continue rocking down 55/540 to 64 and then over. Meet at my place at ~6:30am?

Sounds like a plan. I'll text you when we're on the way.

Think I'll tag along also

Not too sure about the other fine folks that came out but I am beat. We cut in 7 water bars by hand on a illegal trail and then put up 10 signs for no vehicle past this point. Then seeding and spreading of straw bales and dragging of a bunch of wood across trails that are illegal. If you went out yesterday and are not beat I do not know what to say.

Thanks for all the help yesterday.

Now going out to cut up some trees for firewood.

Thanks to everyone who came out!

@GLTHFJ60 can you add the names from yesterday as you know there names better than me for the couple of folks I did not know. Thanks.

1 more workday this year except for the Dec trip.

Sorry Duane for underestimating the difficulty of the easy side of dicky bell  The ranger didn't fare so well on the swails!
