Next workday is October 25th. Reason it was moved is because the Jamboree is being held on the 18th and a bunch of us volunteers are helping Scott with it.

Not sure yet what all will be done but I do know of one section of guard rail that needs to go up on Falls Dam and then we are also going to start trying to plant some stuff behind the guard rail that is already up to try to make it look better and then maybe a few years down the road we can yank the guard rail down and just let natural stuff block the non trail areas.

Was told by numerous folks i am too in your face. I am. I tell the truth at all costs. If it hurts me or someone else so be it.

if you want to show up then by all means do so. If you do not want to help then go about your business. All i asked for was 8 hours out of your year, but guess life is just going so fast for you out there.

Good luck . See you on the trails one day. Peace out.

That might be a tough weekend for schedule, since American Adventurist Appalachian Rendevous is that weekend at UORTC... just saying. also, you might have a bit more folks rummaging through the trails because of it.

I cannot stress the importance of volunteering at Uwharrie and we, as a club, need to do a better job of representing. However, there are other ways to contribute if people can't make workdays, right?

What do FOU donations go towards?

Last thought of the last post. We always get good attendance when a workday happens to fall on the same weekend as an event. Go out there, do some work, wheel for the rest of the day, come back and camp. Maybe we can schedule a workday each time we have an event?

Is there anything that ONSC can do to help incentivize people to come out to the workdays? Darin provided a challenge in January for everyone to make one work day a year, and we're no where near that goal.

For the most part we have 3 uwharrie events each year at Uwharrie. 2 of which are wheeling. We always do a workday the same day as our meet and greet. You aren't going to get a turn out from an event like LR since it is an event people pay to go to. Our xmas party is stuck with only being the 1st 2 weeks of sepember (this year the 1st week) and the workdays are usually later on, but we can schedule one that day also)

I don't know if I will make this one... if i'm off that saturday it will be my only one i've had off since labor day and my only one am scheduled to have off till december so I may need to give the :princess: some more attention.

Darin let me know if we can do some trail work for our trail the same day as the xmas party and i'll put it on the schedule.

Darin and I just talked about this exact thing on the phone. I'd say it's a definite to have a work day on the Saturday of our xmas party event.

works for me, I've already got that day off of work so ill make that one for sure.

when.i make the thread for the Xmas party it will be on it

FOU donations go to renting the big stuff we need to rent to do the heavy lifting / digging / moving. We do not own any big equipment anymore because it is cheaper to rent it and turn it back in and have others fix it when it breaks.

What is the XMAS party date so I can put it on the cal. Happy to do some work while there. Its a great idea.

I wish I did not live so far away from URE. It's tough for me to get out there on a regular basis. I will definitely make the xmas party and I like the idea of making Sat a workday! A little sweat in the dirt never hurt anyone...... coming from the landscaper

Sorry you can't hitch a ride with me Adam. I'll be coming from Beaufort but I DJ in Raleigh Friday night then headed to URE from there.

Just wanted to thank you for being real about this.

My wife and I are new as of 07/14 to the ONSC, and have been involved with one of the local Harley Owner Group (HOG) for 30 years and the same thing goes on over there, 1 % of the group does 100% of the work. We followed posts about this club before joining, as not to follow down the same road, as life IS too short to waste it. We did not get that feel about ONSC.

But as we all know life in the 21 century can get hectic real quick, and that is what went down with us, but now life is good again and my wife and I have "Penciled in" this month and get out of our prison for the day and enjoy some fresh air and meet new friends.

I have also been part of HOG for 15 years and seen the same thing there. That is why i ride with the PGR. But it has serious issues also at different levels so i just ride with them and do not get involved with anything else. Being on 2 BOD's right now i have learned some things for life. Unfortunately i have been soured .

I look forward to meeting / working beside you at any and all events we can get together for.

I'm planning on coming out next weekend. I'll have my 14 year old niece so we can put her to work picking up trash and other errands. It will be my first work day. Any suggestions or tips on things to bring?

I can only speak for myself here, but is it possible to send out an email to members a few weeks prior to an event? I know there's a calendar posted, but frankly between work, kids soccer, leading a Tiger Cub den, volunteering at the kids school events and keeping the wife happy, these things have a way of slipping past. They typically only come to the top of mind when I find a free minute to jump on here and see what's happening with ONSC, and often times it's too late. Case-in-point I have already scheduled a cub scout event at Camp McNiell for the same weekend as this workday. With a friendly ping in my inbox a week or so ago, I'd have picked a different weekend for that trip.

I think, like many others, I'm just far enough out that this isn't really a good day trip, but a weekend plan. So it needs to be coordinated with the wife and kiddies. I generally enjoy this sort of work and want to do my part to help, so its not as if I'm ducking the work days, but with the rest of life taking place, they simply aren't at the forefront of my mind.
